Happened on July 1st. Not sure why it’s taken me so long to post this, probably because I hate thinking about it and looking at the pictures. It was raining pretty steadily and there was some standing water in the road. Anyway I was giving rides to the two people I worked with. First ride went smooth; I was taking it easy because the engine was cold. Second ride was with a girl….trouble already. Me, being 18 with speed running through my blood and a girl beside me decided to be stupid as hell. Ran first gear out and shifted into seconded. Tires spun but I was ready for it. Did I sense that what I was doing was retarded and stop? No. Ran second gear out and shifted super fast (felt the tranny grind a little) into third. Why? Beats the hell out of me. Tires spin unexpectedly, and to make matters worse it’s right in a big puddle of water. I instantly get off the gas and steer, fighting it for what seemed like hours. Eventually the car won and the rear came around on me. I did a 180 and smacked up against a tree. The impact really wasn’t that bad. My knees hurt because they banged together hard, and I had a few cuts on my hand that required sterri strips. The girl was fine except for a few abrasions on her elbow and leg. I climbed out fine even though after looking at the car the next day I don’t see how.
So, it’s two+ months later and I thank God everyday that I am still able to sit here and type this. My knee still hurts every now and then but I was extremely lucky with how little I was injured. Someone was definitely looking out for us that day. I hate to see my car go, and especially like that, but I did learn a lot from it. I learned that I’m too young and inexperienced to own such a car. When I drove that car it was like I was a different person. I mean I would have never done such a thing in my beater 626…but that car was different. I do feel bad for disgracing the Z community by losing such a nice car (just spend the day before detailing…she was lookin perdy). I hope that maybe someday I’ll be mature enough to own another Z. You guys be careful out there, here’s the pics.
